Safe Home Design for Children
Safe Home Design for Children
A house is a basic need besides food and clothing, especially for those of you who are married and have children. So, when you have decided to buy a house or build a house, don't just think about a comfortable house design for your family, but also a safe house for children to grow and develop healthily. The ideal home design for children should prioritize safety, comfort, and space that supports their development. Especially if you have children who are active and constantly moving, safety is certainly the main priority. Some important aspects to consider so that you can create an ideal home for your children, a place that is safe, comfortable, and supports their development are as follows:
1. Use Contact Protector
Using a contact protector or installing a cover on the socket is very important for you to do; this is to prevent the risk of your child being electrocuted while actively moving around the house. Don't forget to tidy up the cables inside and outside the room.
2. Securing Blunt Corners on Furniture
Choose furniture with blunt corners or secure sharp corners on all the furniture you use in your home by wrapping plastic around each sharp corner. This is useful to avoid sharp impacts when children are actively running around or hiding under tables. Choose materials that are non-toxic, easy to clean, and unbreakable. Use bright, cheerful colors to create a cheerful and positive atmosphere. Provide enough storage space to store children's toys and belongings to keep the room tidy.
3. Get Rid of Breakables, Install Fence and Carpet
Store all breakable items such as glasses and plates in a cupboard that is out of reach of children. You can also do this for medicines and other dangerous chemicals. You also need to install a guardrail that can only be opened by adults, especially in the area leading to the kitchen and stairs. You can also use a carpet to cover the floor at home so that if your child falls, they don't immediately hit the floor.
4. Smoke Free Home and Green Open Spaces
For your child's health, a wise step you can take is to create a home that is free from smoke and pollution. Don't smoke in or around the house, not only you but also prohibit all guests who come to your house from smoking. Create an open space so that light and fresh air can enter freely into the house. Green open spaces can help them with their physical activities and social interactions. Ensure good air circulation to prevent stuffy and humid air, which can trigger health problems. Provide a special area for playing, either indoors or outdoors, that is safe and fun. If possible, provide a park or green area that children can access to play and interact with nature.
